New Substitute Applicants: Please refer to the Requirements Section (below) to insure eligibility.

Senate Bill 9, also known as the "Fingerprinting Bill" was signed into law by Governor Perry in the Fall of 2007. This bill requires that all substitute teachers and classified substitutes hired after January 1, 2008 undergo a national criminal history record information review by the Texas Education Agency (TEA). Therefore, before you can be employed as a teacher substitute or classified substitute in Hays CISD, you will be required to provide your fingerprints to be checked against the national criminal history database.

You will be required to pay the up front fees associated with the fingerprinting process. The cost is from $51.00 - $53.00 depending on method of payment.

A Texas school district must request a "FastPass" on your behalf to begin the fingerprinting process. Once the "FastPass" is obtained, you will need to make an appointment with the fingerprinting vendor, IBT. When you have paid for and been fingerprinted at IBT, they will issue you a receipt. Any school district that you substitute for will need to copy this receipt for their records.

If you wish to have Hays CISD request a FastPass from the Texas Education Agency, please email Tricia Griffith: GriffithT@hayscisd.net . You will receive a return email with instructions for obtaining your FastPass.

After fingerprinting: bring, fax or mail a copy of your receipt to Tricia Griffith, Substitute Specialist (info below). Once your receipt is on file in our substitute office, you may sign up to attend the next available orientation session.

IMPORTANT:

* Individuals who have already submitted fingerprints for the Texas Education Agency will not need to complete the process again for Hays CISD, however, we will need subscribe to your fingerprint results with TEA. Please send an email requesting that we subscribe to your prints that are already on file with TEA, once we have subscribed to your results, we will let you know (by email) so that you may register for an upcoming substitute orientation session.
